Kansas Department of Commerce names Straub Construction Co. a Business Appreciation Month winner
Shawnee, Kan., June 17, 2009 – The Kansas Department of Commerce named general contractor Straub Construction, Kansas City, a Merit Award winner. The award program is part of “Business Appreciation Month”, the Department’s annual celebration of Kansas businesses and their outstanding contributions to their communities and the state economy.
“Every year, Business Appreciation Month gives us a chance to thank business leaders and entrepreneurs for keeping our state strong,” said Gov. Mark Parkinson.
“In light of the current economic downturn, this year’s Business Appreciation Month is especially meaningful, and companies’ efforts are especially crucial to our state,” Gov. Parkinson said.
Each of the 179 businesses was nominated in one of four categories: Manufacturing/Distribution, Service, Retail and Hospital/Non-Profit. Straub Construction, located in the East Central Region, was nominated in the service category.
“Kansas businesses are the backbone of our economy and our quality of life,” said Kansas Department of Commerce Secretary David D. Kerr. “Business Appreciation Month is our way of thanking these great Kansas businesses for all they do to keep our state strong.”
