Straub Construction’s Safety Coordinator Receives Special Service Award

Shawnee, Kan., Feb. 1, 2008 – Adam Crowl, safety coordinator for Straub Construction, Inc., received the 2007 Award for Special Service from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Heart of America Chapter. The award was presented by Greg King, vice chairman for the chapter’s board of directors, at the local ABC Annual Awards Banquet on Jan. 24.

According to King, Crowl was selected because of his “true leadership, dedication and commitment to ABC and, in particular, to the ABC Safety Program.”

“There are so many ABC members who make special contributions of their time, talent and resources to ABC and to our mission, that the Award for Special Service is always a difficult choice,” said King.

In July 2007, the Heart of America Chapter became the only ABC Chapter to have active OSHA partnerships in two states – Kansas and Missouri. According to King, that’s when the work really began, involving applications, record audits, and on-site visits. “Adam acted as a leader to help organize audit teams and complete all of the planning, scheduling, team organizing and on-site audit work – all while working his ‘real’ job,” King said.

“Everyone at Straub Construction is proud of Adam’s accomplishment,” said Parker Young, the company’s vice president. “We’re pleased that he was recognized as a leader, and for his commitment to the ABC Heart of America Chapter’s safety initiative.
