The Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s new indoor sports facility currently being developed near Gardner now has both a general contractor and a permanent name.

Straub Construction Co. Inc. of Shawnee was selected as the contractor, and New Century Fieldhouse will serve as the facility’s permanent name.

The district’s Board of Directors approved both items during its regular monthly meeting on July 21. Officials anticipate actual construction on the facility will begin in mid-August.
