Straub Construction Wins Local and National Awards
Shawnee, Kan., January 23, 2012 – The National Commercial Builders Council (NCBC) has awarded Straub Construction Company, Inc. with two “Grand Awards” in their 2012 Awards of Excellence” competition. The award-winning projects are: Kenwood Cove (Salina, KS), the largest municipal water park in the State of Kansas, and 909 Walnut for Entertainment Properties Trust (Kansas City, MO), a historic office renovation completed in just 11 weeks.

Straub Construction Co. Earns ‘National Excellence in Construction Award’ from ABC
WASHINGTON, D.C . – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) announced that Straub Construction Company, Inc.’s work on the Entertainment Properties Trust project (EPR) in Kansas City, Mo., has earned the company an Eagle Award in the Historical Restoration – $2-$10 million category of ABC’s Excellence in Construction Awards. Straub Construction Company’s representatives received the award during the 21st annual Excellence in Construction Awards celebration at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Orlando, Fla.
Straub Construction Named General Contractor of the Year
In December Straub Construction also earned three ABC Excellence in Construction awards for Entertainment Properties Trust (Kansas City, Mo.); Goddard Unified School District (Goddard, Ks.); and Holy Angels Catholic Church (Basehor, Ks.). The Entertainment Properties Trust project team also won the ABC President’s Award.
Straub Construction attributes diversity and solid business practices to their ongoing success. Since 1920, the company has successfully built both structural steel and wood frame projects including institutional, commercial/retail, municipal, healthcare, multi-family and historic renovation.

The Johnson County Park and Recreation District’s new indoor sports facility currently being developed near Gardner now has both a general contractor and a permanent name. Straub Construction Co. Inc. of Shawnee was selected as the contractor, and New Century Fieldhouse will serve as the facility’s permanent name.

Kansas Dept. of Commerce Names Straub Construction a Regional Business Excellence Award Winner

The award is part of Business Appreciation Month, the Department’s annual celebration of Kansas businesses for their contributions to their communities and the state economy.
