Straub Construction Receives Three Awards for Local Projects
Shawnee, Kan., June 8, 2010 – Three Capstone Awards were recently presented to the Straub Construction Company project team for enhancing the Kansas City metropolitan area. Winning projects included mixed-use Phoenix Building in Overland Park, plus two multi-family projects including Hyde Park Apartments in Kansas City, Mo. and Northeast Junior High Place senior living in Kansas City, Ks. Each project was completed in 2009. Straub Construction Company, now celebrating their 90th anniversary, is a general contractor located in Shawnee.

Straub Construction Earns National Excellence in Construction Award from Associated Builders and Contractors
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) announces that Straub Construction Company’s work on the Weaver Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo., has earned the company an Eagle Award in the Institutional $5-million – $10-million category of ABC’s Excellence in Construction Awards. Straub Construction President Ernie Straub III received the award June 24 during the 19th annual Excellence in Construction Awards celebration at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.
This is the second time Straub Construction, Kansas City, earned a national award for the quality construction of Weaver Auditorium. In January, the National Commercial Builder’s Council (NCBC) recognized Straub with the “Project of the Year” award for their outstanding work as a general contractor.
Kansas Department of Commerce Honors Straub Construction with Business Appreciation Month Award
Shawnee, Kan., June 17, 2009 – The Kansas Department of Commerce named general contractor Straub Construction, Kansas City, a Merit Award winner. The award program is part of “Business Appreciation Month”, the Department’s annual celebration of Kansas businesses and their outstanding contributions to their communities and the state economy.

Renovation Project Team Receives Preserve Missouri Award
Shawnee, Kan., March 16, 2009 – The Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation (MAHP) honored the project team of East Armour Apartments with the Preserve Missouri Award. The award was presented on March 5 at a special ceremony held in the Missouri State Capitol Rotunda with members of the legislature participating.
East Armour Apartments historic renovation project included seven buildings at three sites, with 309 one- and two-bedroom affordable apartments. Together, Eagle Point Enterprises, Rosemann & Associates, PC and Straub Construction Company completed rehabilitation and significantly restored the early 20th century buildings.
According to Missouri Preservation, the team significantly restored the historic exterior appearance as well as many interior spaces of the seven buildings, while raising the bar for low-income housing projects everywhere.
Weaver Auditorium Named “Project of the Year” for Awards of Excellence
Shawnee, Kan., February 27, 2009 – The National Commercial Builder’s Council (NCBC) recognized Straub Construction of Kansas City with the “Project of the Year” award for the Weaver Auditorium project. The national award was recently announced at the annual NCBC’s international conference.
Weaver Auditorium is a state-of-the-art 31,000-square-foot facility built for Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCUMB). It includes 1,500 seats, a performance stage, specialty audio-visual center and lighting systems, and unique auditorium ceiling finish. This project includes: 6,500 SF of granite flooring, extensive power and lighting provisions, curvilinear walls, cherry paneling, fluted cherry column covers, and a two-story lobby with open ornamental iron elliptical stairway.

Shawnee, Kan., Feb. 1, 2008 – Adam Crowl, safety coordinator for Straub Construction, Inc., received the 2007 Award for Special Service from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Heart of America Chapter. The award was presented by Greg King, vice chairman for the chapter’s board of directors, at the local ABC Annual Awards Banquet on Jan. 24.
