In 2010 Hyde Park Hotel was returned to its 1920s grandeur. It remains on the state’s historic registry and offers affordable yet modern housing. Inside this award-wining project, the main entrance features an original, ornate ceiling once covered by a suspended ceiling hiding numerous holes, unsightly plumbing and fire sprinkler lines. Other renovations involve a grand staircase, refurbishing one elevator and enlarging another, and the building’s exterior. New features in the 75 units include cabinets, floor coverings and windows. All new mechanical, electrical and plumbing were installed. Also, interior walls were relocated to enlarge the units for today’s apartment dwellers.
