When finished, Hyde Park Hotel will return to its 1920s grandeur, remain on the state’s historic registry and offer affordable housing. The main entrance will feature an original, ornate ceiling once covered by a suspended ceiling to hide numerous holes and unsightly plumbing and fire sprinkler lines. Other renovations involve a grand staircase, refurbishing one elevator and enlarging another, and the building’s exterior. New features include cabinets, floor coverings and windows. All new mechanical, electrical and plumbing were installed. Also, interior walls were relocated to enlarge the units for today’s apartment dwellers.
