By Matthew Straub, Marketing Coordinator at Straub Construction.

New Beginnings

The 2018/2019 school year has come to a close. Additionally, the St. Paul Catholic School has enjoyed the conclusion of the first semester in their bran new building. It has been a first semester filled with very new experiences, as the church and school transitioned from their old home of 57 years. The St. Paul Community is celebrating all kinds of beginnings in their new facility and are looking forward to the future.

The Transformation

Let’s take a look back at the 12 months of construction that transformed a large patch of dirt into the beautiful new home of the St. Paul Catholic Church and School.

Guest post by Reece Riedel, Joe Riedel’s son.

The annual Straub family picnic was on Saturday June 3,2019. There were bounce houses, an ice cream truck came, a bean bag tournament and annual prize raffle.

The annual raffle is probably everyone’s favorite. It included TVs, iRobots, a Traeger grill, Bluetooth speakers and many other great prizes.

They also had catering from Two Guys and a Grill. The food was amazing. There were hot dogs, cheeseburgers/hamburgers and chicken, with potato salad, beans and chips as sides.

Overall it was a great day and I met a lot of new people.

Project Update (Video): Emanuel Cleaver II Senior Living Community

By Matthew Straub, Marketing Coordinator at Straub Construction

The Project

The Emanuel Cleaver II Senior Living project is moving right along. The project which began in August 2018 is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year. It has been an extremely wet spring which has caused some headaches throughout the construction industry. However, our team has worked to maximize the schedule and take advantage of every dry day that we have.

Some Dry Weather!

We are thankful to have a couple dry weeks in a row for our team to get some major work done. Check out our video of the work being done out on the project. Our team is working to deliver on our promise to the Emanuel Cleaver II Community and provide a beautiful Senior Living Community that the future residents, the neighborhood, and Kansas City Missouri can be proud of.

St. Elizabeth Catholic Church – Building a Legacy

St. Elizabeth ParishBy Joe Riedel, Director of Business Development at Straub Construction

Formed 100 years ago, the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church is now an anchor in the Waldo community.  Many consider the Parish to be the “Welcome Mat to the Community”. The Parishioners at “St. E” are guided by a strong belief system founded on faith, joy, hope, mercy and commitment to the community.

St. Elizabeth is home to multiple generations within families.  Children who grew up worshiping in the church and who attended the school often stay in or return to the community to raise families of their own.

Paying It Forward

As St. Elizabeth looks forward to the next 100 years, many in the parish appreciate the generosity of those past generations who have given a part of themselves to provide a home for the future.  In that spirit, the people at St. E are continuing the legacy by adapting and expanding their current campus.

The Vision

As part of a Design-Build partnership with Hollis + Miller Architects and Lankford|Fendler + Associates, Straub Construction recently began construction on several key projects to expand St. Elizabeth’s mission and purpose to serve the community.  The work will include a conversion of the existing rectory, built in 1948, into modern learning spaces for the Early Childhood Center.  The main sanctuary will be renovated to improve accessibility, functionality, storage and acoustics.  Finally, through renovation of the existing Early Childcare Center, the parish will benefit from added flexible meeting spaces and 24 additional parking spaces.
