By Jason Riordan, Project Manager at Straub Construction, talking about the recent renovation project completed for Church of the Nativity.
“Always room for more at our table.”
“Always room for more at our table” was the theme for the church’s stewardship program this year. Nativity needed more room for the 49 different church ministries and organizations that meet on site. Renovations had not been done since the church was built 27 years ago, and Straub Construction was excited at being chosen to help the Church make “room to grow”.
HTK Architects was chosen to design the renovations. The project included two new additions, and renovations of the existing lower level of the building.
- Four additional offices and a conference room in the North Addition
- Two additional flex meeting spaces that are separated by an operable partition
- New music and meeting rooms
- New commercial kitchen
- Relocated nursery
- Additional storage space
A real stone facade and copper roofs make the two new additions blend well with the existing facilities. The construction had a tight time frame because the church needed to have the facilities open before services on Christmas Eve. The design team, Straub Construction and the owners worked closely together to make sure this happened.
Aaron Ledesma and Britney Weiser represented HTK architects on the project. James Mowdy was the superintendent and I (Jason Riordan) was the project manager. A special thanks to Randy Monson, Mark Hyde, Father Francis and David Stephens who represented the Church and were integral in making decisions to help the project move along.
The grand opening for the new facility will be at the end of January 2018 and Straub Construction is proud to have been part of making more room at the table at the Church of Nativity!
