Welcoming the KC Symphony to the Webster School

Straub broke ground on the new headquarters for the Kansas City Symphony, soon to be located in the historic Webster School at 17th and Wyandotte. Partnering with Shirley Helzberg, Helix, Avant Acoustics, Built Interior and Lankford | Fendler, Straub will help return life to the former 135-year old school. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Webster House closed its doors last summer after hosting an upscale restaurant and boutique shops for years.

About the Project

Construction will include reconfiguring the lower level for public gatherings, including recitals, classes, events, and art and historical displays. An outdoor courtyard will be created and the upper two levels will be converted to office, performance, meeting, and event spaces. Nearly 20% will be used for symphony practice space.

Completion is scheduled for June – stay tuned for project updates.
