Jon Alvarado
Quality Control/Warranty Manager

Construction runs deep in Jon’s blood. Growing up with a father and uncle who framed houses and built custom cabinetry, he learned those trades at an early age. When he wasn’t being mentored by his family, if he didn’t know how to do something, he would teach himself.

“For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.” – Aristotle

Jon has been working as our Quality Control and Warranty Manager since 2006. After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Construction Management, he was first introduced to Straub while working for a home builder as their Customer Relations Manager, building townhomes in a subdivision just a few blocks away from the Straub office. Ernest Straub Jr., or “Chief,” drove by every Saturday to inquire on the projects progress, finally introducing himself to Jon. The rest, as they say, is history.

Jon is one of the few individuals who works on every single Straub project, acting as a proactive problem-solver and working with Superintendents on daily challenges. With over a decade of experience, Jon has extensive knowledge of construction products and building materials. “I love my job because I feel like the MacGyver of our industry, constantly trouble shooting construction practices,” Jon says. He also ensures a seamless project closeout process and handles all post-construction issues that may arise. Should something happen during the Warranty phase of a project, clients should rest assured that Jon is there to rectify those issues.

Outside of construction, Jon’s main passion is for family. He is heavily involved in his kids’ activities, (Brooklyn, 8; Stella, 6; and Emmitt, 4), coaching Brooklyn’s basketball team and attending sporting events. In the summer months, he and his family spend their weekends at their lake house on Hidden Valley Lake in Mound City, KS.

If you ever get the chance, we invite you to challenge Jon to a game of “corn hole” or “bags”. He plays competitively at least once a week and starts up a game in our office every Friday. Trust us, he’s pretty good.
