Straub Construction Breaks Ground On $15M New Elementary School

Shawanoe 1We’ve recently begun construction on Shawanoe Elementary School located at 11230 W. 75th Street in Shawnee, KS. The project encompasses the construction of a new, two-story 84,650 square foot elementary school, along with the removal of the existing school and site improvements including a new parking lot.

Unique project features include the gymnasium, which will double as a storm shelter made of precast concrete walls. Additionally, there will be movable partitions to accommodate for classroom expansion and multi-use areas as needed.

We will use a four phased approach to ensure that the new building is open to welcome students for the 2015 – 2016 school year. Phase I construction is began in late Summer 2014 with the final phase to be completed by Fall 2016.

Shawanoe 2 Project employees on behalf of Straub Construction include Dan VanDonge as Senior Project Manager with Jeff Walters as Project Superintendent.  ACI/Boland Inc. of Kansas City, Missouri will serve as the Architect.

Straub Construction has completed several other projects on behalf of the Shawnee Mission School District including Indian Hills/Somerset Elementary Schools, Briarwood/Mohawk Elementary Schools, Roseland/Rushton Elementary Schools, Brookwood Elementary School, Indian Woods Elementary School and Comanche Elementary School.
