Inclusive housing and community spaces that promote independence and connection.
The Community
Friends of JCDSis a local nonprofit working alongside Johnson County Developmental Supports and the broader community to make a meaningful difference in the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Rooted in listening, relationships, and an understanding of each person’s unique needs, the organization brings together community partners, donors, and advocates to help remove barriers and create a more inclusive Johnson County where individuals can thrive.
The Construction
The Floyd Street Housing project is a new three-story, approximately 18,000-square-foot mixed-use development featuring 17 residential units and new office space for Friends of JCDS. The project also includes an art studio, community gathering room, and outdoor patio and garden areas. Accessibility will be incorporated throughout the residential, office, and shared spaces, bringing a variety of uses together within one thoughtfully designed facility.
