Historic courthouse renovation modernizing courts, security, and public spaces.
The Community
Platte County Courthouse exists to provide equal access to justice in a safe, fair, and impartial environment. The historic courthouse was built in 1866-1867 after the original two-story wooden courthouse was burned down during the American Civil War. In 1979, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Construction
The existing late 1860’s and 1970’s addition of the Platte County Courthouse is in need of some upgrades. We will be renovating active court rooms, the historical grand lobby, creating a new public defender’s office, new library, new jury deliberation rooms, multiple conference rooms, a staff break room with a nursing room, and modernizing security with a new command center. All work is part of a detailed phasing plan that allows all court rooms to remain active and all staff to continue working during construction.
